The Bisi Aso Oke Pillowcase

We've translated Nigeria's Aso Oke into this beautiful decorative pillowcase that is sure to add a touch of chic in every way you decide to welcome and style it in your home.

Aso oke fabric is a hand-woven cloth created by the Yoruba people of west Africa.
Aso oke means "cloth from the hinterland".
Usually woven by men and women, the fabric is used to make men's gowns, called agbada and hats, called fila, as well as women's wrappers, called iro and head tie, called gele.

The way of making the cloth has remained the same for centuries, however new techniques and production methods have been looked into to eliminate the weight and thickness of the aso oke cloth, and to make it more accessible for casual wear.

Yorubas around the world wear aso oke fabric for special occasions, including holidays, weddings, funerals and chieftain title ceremonies. All followers of the Yoruba religion also wear aso oke fabrics and hats.

*This pillow is great for outdoors.
*Colour and pattern sequence of the physical item may slightly differ from what appears on the image.

*Please note: Pillowcase ships without inner.

Because our products are handwoven, handmade and hand dyed, there may be colour, stitch, and shape variations, which is what makes them unique and individual. These small variations and irregularities add to the charm, tactile look and feel to each item.

Each Aso Oke weaved pattern design varies from one order to another as all pattern sequences are special and unique to how it's cut to make the finished product.

We recommend dry cleaning your item in order to preserve the colours, pattern, and combat fading.
